During the week of July 25th, 2011, NC FFA sent four state FFA officers to the annual CTE Summer Teachers Conference in Greensboro, North Carolina. This conference is held for all CTE teachers in North Carolina. This conference gives teachers the chance to network with other teachers in North Carolina and also allows them to sit through multiple workshops to improve their skills as a CTE teacher for the upcoming year. It was a real privilege to attend this conference as a FFA officer! We were able to get the chance to meet amazing FFA advisors and awesome agriculture teachers. During this conference Katie, Beverly, Alyssa, and I helped with registration where we got to meet and talk to different state officers from other clubs such as DECA, TSA, FCCLA, HOSA, and Skills USA. We were able to attend different workshops and various discussions within the NC ATA events. Within these events, NC ATA encouraged North Carolina CTE teachers that they can make a difference in the lives of students by just a simple ‘smile’. The commitment and enthusiasm that agriculture teachers and FFA advisors have to put forth each year is absolutely amazing. This week was a great way for the NC FFA State Officers to meet with the agriculture teachers and learn about CTE in North Carolina.
