After spending much time with FFA members and fellow state officers all summer, it was time to put some of knowledge and experiences into action. Hannah, Caroline, Beverly, and I had the pleasure of spending a few hours with county commissioners from across our state, while attending the annual 4H Youth Summit.
Our time with commissioners began at the Horn Of Plenty Banquet, held at the Cabarrus Arena. There, we were able to mingle with commissioners from our specific counties over an amazing meal of locally grown foods. Discussion revolved around our time spent as state officers so far, what events we could participate in throughout the upcoming year, and general interests of things in our home county.
The next day, we were able to have breakfast and attend workshops alongside our commissioners and 4H members. Being from the best county ever, Cabarrus, I decided to attend the workshop on locally grown food and it’s positive effects on Cabarrus County’s economy.
Overall, we learned a great deal and had an awesome time socializing with our local policy makers!
